Quarter 4 Newsletter & 2025 Accomplishments

Dear Neighbors,

Quarter 4 (October—December) is in the books and as our accomplishments continue to grow, we have the most important update yet as this is our end of year wrap up Newsletter!

2025 proved to be a year of challenges and tough choices amid the new federal administration taking office and targeting many of California’s policies and values. This combined with severe budget constraints made our jobs harder this year. However, I’m proud to report that we still managed to deliver for our communities in the valley with the promises that we made! These wins and many more we had this year could NOT have been possible without the tireless effort and constant voices of YOU, the people, constituents of the 27th Assembly District.

2025: A Year of Memorable Victories

MADERA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL REOPENS

In 2022, when it was announced that the Madera Community Hospital would be closing, it was felt throughout our district. Instead of letting this hospital go out of commission and focus on other issues, we spearheaded efforts to save the hospital. With the help from our State Senator, Anna Caballero, I was the proud author of AB 112. This bill, which is now law created $300 million dollars for the Distressed Hospital Loan Program, which would be dispersed to financially struggling hospitals all over California. More than $50 million of those dollars would go to saving our Madera Community Hospital.

This was a huge win for our community. Thanks to AB 112, constituents in my community are not having to travel up to 90 minutes to the nearest hospital for life saving care. Mothers who are going into labor are not worried about making it to a hospital that’s more than 35 miles away to deliver their baby. This reflected real change for our community, it mattered to everyday people. Together, we did it Madera!

Asm. Soria Hosts Immigration Roundtable in Fresno
Asm Soriaspeaker

I was honored to host an immigration roundtable in Fresno with Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas in March, alongside other members of the Assembly. This roundtable convened and allowed us to listen, engage, and collaborate with Central Valley partners and stakeholders who represent immigrant communities throughout our region. We learned a lot, and look forward to implementing the changes we know need to take place in order to further protect our immigrant communities.

More importantly, my staff always delivers when it comes to community events as important as these! They work hard, and are here to serve you! Our spring resource fairs continue to serve the community by providing free health clinics, resources, and so many other services to communities across the valley.

Thank you to Merced, Madera, Fresno, Los Banos, and all the parents and kiddos who made our final back-to-school backpack giveaway campaign a HUGE success! More than 3,000 backpacks were distributed and constituents took advantage of the many services we offered!

These events are for the people of Assembly District 27, to show you that #teamsoria is here to serve YOU, in our efforts to make the Central Valley a better place. I will continue to fight, and work hard representing YOU in the California Assembly.

Young Legislators Program 2025

Another installment of our Young Legislators Program kicked off in 2025, this time for our Madera and Fresno County cohort in which we hosted a Government 101 discussion. Special thanks to Kerman Mayor Maria Pacheco & Central Unified Board of Trustee Jaspreet Sidhu for this session.

Operation Gobble Turkey Giveaway 2025

In 2025 we were able to donate more than 3,500 turkeys throughout district 27, at a time when people most needed them. After the longest federal government shutdown in history, this giveaway meant more to families. I was proud to help make the holiday a little easier for our community, especially for families struggling with the cost of living increasing.

We were also able to secure more than $15,000 for our local food banks to shore up much needed relief. We look forward to continuing our turkey giveaway events and can’t wait to see everyone next November!

Seven Bills Signed into Law will Help Central Californians
Seven Bills Signed into Law

It's official, we had seven of our bills signed into law in 2025. Voters in Merced, Madera, and Fresno Counties elected me to make their life better, safer, and more affordable in the Central Valley. These seven bills make progress towards those goals, but our work is far from over!

We made housing more accessible by not only supporting historic California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) reforms but also with two pro-housing bills. We secured more protections for patients in hospitals, and increased penalties for those who would seek to abuse them. We reduced the cost of delivering water from the Kings River to Central Valley farmers. We secured fair, and equitable elections for Merced County.

Every one of these accomplishments began with a conversation — one-on-one with my constituents. Each new law started by listening to our community members about the challenges they face. These wins were only possible because so many people came together to make a difference.

I look forward to having more conversations with our community members, and will work even harder next year to deliver more results for our Central Valley residents and families. Adelante!
